"Still" is a "match-the-bait" minnow designed to imitate fry and small baitfish. It entices trout to strike by replicating the size and delicate, subtle movements of their natural prey. Originally developed under the project name "Fry Minnow," it features a realistic form and size that looks incredibly authentic.
Small baitfish and fry often congregate in shallow waters or near rocky cover for protection. "Still" is a slim, compact minnow equipped with a medium-deep lip specifically designed to target these shallow zones, as well as areas around rocks and stones. The lip design provides excellent obstacle avoidance and allows for bottom-tracing retrieves—even at slow speeds—across shallows and drop-offs.
"Still" utilizes a fixed-weight, silent system that eliminates unnecessary noise, ensuring the lure doesn't spook fish with unwanted sounds.
Despite its small size, it delivers highly responsive action. A steady retrieve produces a tight, trembling wobble that mimics fry while exuding a lifelike quality. When twitched, it executes sharp side-to-side darts and recovers quickly, making it ideal for reaction-based techniques like continuous twitching.
It responds instantly to the angler's rod work; feel free to experiment with everything from dead-slow retrieves to aggressive reaction tactics.
If a steady retrieve fails to trigger a bite, try "stop-and-go" or pausing after a twitch to create a "strike window" for better results.
This minnow is balanced with extreme precision; therefore, "true-tuning" (adjusting the line eye) is essential for optimal performance.
While seasonal factors play a role, fishing the surface layer with a dead-slow retrieve during the mornings or evenings of spring and autumn offers an exciting angling experience. Designed with juvenile fish in mind, the "Still" combines a compact size with a lightweight profile; consequently, it is not uncommon for decent-sized trout to swallow the lure whole.
