The Monster Plugger MPB-833-AR—a rod with a 3oz maximum lure rating designed around the concept of "big baits"—has been completed after a full four years of development starting in 2020.
It handles various lures weighing around 50g with ease, with a minimum lure weight of approximately 15g. The tip section has been lengthened to ensure a smooth, flexible action, enabling long-distance casting with pencil-style topwater plugs and minnows weighing up to 2oz.
It offers exceptional comfort when performing full casts and manipulating jointed baits within the same weight range (handling up to roughly 70g comfortably), and delivers a superb, exhilarating feel when casting 1oz lures at full power.
While primarily tested for seabass fishing in swift-flowing rivers, the rod is also well-suited for long-distance wading casts at Lake Biwa.
As part of the Seven-Sense series designed to target multiple species, the rod features guides with titanium frames and SiC inserts.
It is tuned to comfortably handle a wide range of lures—including minnows (19–53g), sinking pencil plugs (19–60g), vibration plugs (25–45g), jointed minnows (39–60g), topwater plugs (42–80g), and diving pencil plugs (up to 70g)—targeting massive seabass in environments ranging from small to large rivers and open waters.
