A truly unique, versatile cranking rod—one capable of handling large crankbaits dynamically while allowing for a comfortable retrieve with smaller models.
The essence of a cranking rod lies in its ability to pick up the vibrations generated by the crankbait and seamlessly link them together to establish a rhythmic cadence.
The Tulala Bringout 70M is a versatile cranking rod that achieves a balance between a glass tip—designed for a comfortable retrieve with small crankbaits—and a butt section engineered to let you keep winding large crankbaits without fatigue.
Crankbaits generate their distinctive action as their lips "bite" into the water.
A cranking rod’s role is to maximize responsiveness to this water resistance and provide a rebound that matches the lure's movement as it shifts direction, ensuring a consistent, reliable swim. However, conventional designs faced challenges in this regard.
When using small crankbaits (such as the No-Name Crank 1/0 size) on rods designed for big bass, the rod was often too stiff or powerful, making it difficult to feel anything more than the faintest vibrations.
Conversely, simply thickening a soft glass blank to accommodate large crankbaits meant that while small crankbaits might move well, their vibrations would be dampened and lost in the middle section of the rod. To resolve this dilemma, composite rods featuring a carbon butt and a glass tip have long been produced.
However, there was a strong preference for designs with an abrupt transition between the tip and the butt. In an era when line strength was relatively fixed, the standard practice was to switch the entire tackle setup when changing lures; there was little demand for a design that could naturally adapt to the varying loads placed on the rod by different lures.
Today, with advancements in line strength and a wider range of options—such as PE lines—available to anglers...
We believe the "Natural Shift" design of the Bringout 70M
truly maximizes the comfort and performance of the lure's action.
