Designed for open-ocean surf and rocky beach environments, this rod offers the long-casting capability to deliver everything from medium-to-large minnows to high-density lures with pinpoint accuracy; despite its lightweight build, it is powerful enough to handle 10kg-class yellowtail in open surf conditions.
In recent years, there has been a tendency in surf fishing to prioritize casting distance above all else, often pushing rods to their weight limits. However, if you possess the casting technique to back your confidence, casting at the rod's "best weight"—rather than forcing the maximum rated weight—will reliably yield greater distance. Furthermore, this approach preserves maneuverability, allowing you to fully utilize the rod's performance potential.
Regarding the cast itself: as previously mentioned, the SR series is designed to be the easiest to cast within the Seven-Sense lineup. Its true essence lies in the fact that, when using the intended casting motion, the lure flies effortlessly. We encourage you to experience the true nature of the SR series by applying proper casting technique.
The blank is optimized for the following lure weight ranges: metal jigs (28g–40g), jig head/soft plastic combos (14g–28g), vibration plugs (21g–28g), metal vibration plugs (18g–35g), sinking pencil plugs (21g–38g), minnows (16g–28g), and blade baits (20g–30g).
Regarding reels: for PE #1.2 line, LT3000, LT4000, 3000HGM, and 4000 class reels are suitable. For PE #1.5 and #2.0 lines, LT4000, 4000, and C5000 class reels are appropriate. Designed primarily for targeting trophy-sized seabass in open-ocean surf zones, this rod excels at handling the standard range of lures—such as 120–140mm minnows, 21–28g vibration plugs, and ~30g sinking pencils—that offer the casting distance needed to reach currents and eddies. We engineered a lightweight, powerful blank using 46t carbon, featuring a tip that remains stable against strong currents and lure resistance, a taper that facilitates effortless long casting, and a precisely tuned flex point to balance repulsion and stiffness.
