The goal was to replicate the appearance of a baitfish fleeing in panic.
The New High Sider is a large, jointed crankbait designed to mimic a real baitfish with uncanny precision—from the amplitude of its tail swing to the frequency of its action.
Its extraordinary success in landing monster-sized bass has already been well-documented across various media, proving it to be in a league of its own.
While it shares a lineage with the original High Sider (produced from 2007 to 2017)—which featured a foam-resin body—the New High Sider has been completely re-engineered. It utilizes a hollow ABS-resin body paired with an elongated, ultra-thin elastomer tail to faithfully recreate the movement of a dace (a type of baitfish).
Furthermore, the lure features a detachable lip. By removing it, anglers can fish the lure in a "lipless" configuration—an effective technique for targeting monster bass in clear lakes, whether on the surface or via a fast retrieve just below the surface, ensuring the fish commit to the strike without becoming wary.
