The objective was to develop a deep-running crankbait with a fixed center of gravity—one that isn't overly large—capable of targeting depths of 5 to 6.5 meters. Compared to models with a moving weight system, a fixed-weight design offers several distinct advantages. The absence of an internal weight-transfer rail allows for a crisp, lively action; it also ensures a quick recovery of movement after the lure strikes an obstacle, as well as a rapid return to its optimal swimming posture—all of which are performance traits that directly translate to more fish in the boat.
On the other hand, depending on wind conditions, if the lip size becomes too large relative to the body, the lure can begin to spin uncontrollably during the cast, causing it to lose momentum and fall short. This lack of casting distance can prevent the angler from effectively working the lure through the intended target zone.
Consequently, we began development with a core question: how deep can we reach using a fixed-weight design while keeping the flight posture as stable as possible?
Achieving greater depth requires, first and foremost, long casting distance.
This necessitates optimizing weight and minimizing air resistance; however, the body size must remain compact to ensure the lure effectively entices fish, and sufficient buoyancy is essential to maintain the lure's snag-resistant (weedless) performance.
