The HP Shadtail 2.5in was developed as a small shad-tail soft bait capable of handling various rigs, with the fundamental goal of excelling at both steady retrieving and shaking techniques.
It generates the powerful vibration and water displacement often lacking in shad-tail baits of this size, maintaining this performance across a full range of retrieve speeds—from slow to fast.
When retrieved—whether weightless (using #2–#3 offset hooks) or on a jig head—it produces a vigorous wobbling action that extends all the way to the head.
When shaken on down-shot or Neco rigs, the tail vibrates powerfully in sync with rod movements, effectively pushing water.
It is also compatible with Carolina rigs and serves as an excellent trailer for small rubber jigs.
Even with the lightest 1.2g weight class of the "04 Synchro" jig, the tail is guaranteed to vibrate during a free fall.
The Neco rig setup using a 2.2g nail sinker is particularly noteworthy.
While inserting a light sinker (around 0.3g) for a swimming retrieve is effective, using a heavy 2.2g sinker allows for a "reaction Neco rig" technique—a secret tactic for triggering strikes with a rapid fall.
