The Yamato is a new genre of multi-action surface bait, featuring a unique body design born from the pursuit of specific performance goals and an ability to deliver a diverse, high-impact appeal.
Its three cups—one at the front and one on each side—throw out a wide, massive spray of water, while the popping sound closely mimics the sound of a fish feeding, resonating over a wide area to trigger strikes, particularly from big bass.
It features two line-tie eyes: the lower "High-Appeal Eye" is typically used for a tight, focused "dog-walk" action with minimal forward movement, allowing you to tempt the fish into biting over an extended period.
In situations where bass are sluggish and reluctant to rise to the surface, you can switch to the upper "Diving Eye." This allows for varied attack strategies—such as a dog-walk interspersed with dives or an S-shaped action during a steady retrieve—to match the bass's activity level.
In addition to these features, the "Yamato O.S.P Spec 2" utilizes a "bone" resin material for the body.
While this sacrifices some color transparency, the model was developed specifically to excel in situations where rattle sounds are effective.
Modifications include the use of tungsten for the front weight and adjustments to the lengths of the three pins protruding into the weight chamber from the sides, creating a combination of rolling sounds and deep, low-frequency rattle tones.
This adds a rattling effect to the splash and popping sounds during the dog-walk action, doubling the lure's appeal.
It also excels at techniques where the angler keeps the line slightly taut to gently shake the lure, generating rattle sounds to trigger a bite.
